I was blackmailed.

By my mother to come to eat. You see food is a great lure. Free food is super great, but I also heard a veiled threat under it. She stopped talking when I said I'm coming today instead of yesterday because I'll want to come today (didn't tell her I was coming in the late evening and I plan to call her when I actually in NYC, don't need the headache.) and she pretty much said okay hanged the phone up on me.

I told her guilt doesn't work that way with any of the children, but she keeps trying. Aw, it isn't like I don't want to see her but the traveling is going to be long and bitchy and it is cold outside... And unlike most people I don't get depressed because I not celebrating with anybody this year, well I am but I would be perfectly fine staying home eating ramen noodles.

Whatever. Happy Thanksgiving to all that applies. I will be somewhere around since they have cable too.

Sorry I haven't been around but I purposely ditched a test where I had to write (I am tired of writing papers) knowing my consequences then my teacher is like I don't to fail you when you're doing so well so I have to write a paper about test anxiety in MLA format. There goes my brilliant plan.

So if anybody wants to help me whatever whatever... :)

For [info]aingeal8c I was listening to this song and it reminds me of Due South, what do you think: Asking for Flowers (Maybe Fraser and Victoria?)

Yes Elmo. I found myself looking for Australian shows a while ago and found ROVE (Comedy Show). Today, watching youtube as usual, I accidentally (since I didn't even think about) looking for Rove on Youtube but he had Elmo on and in these vids which are full interviews with the monster. Rove is funny and Elmo is hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing so I had to share.

As of 11pm Eastern Standard Time Barack Obama has been named our 44th President of the United States!!!

Okay, I am having the holy shit moment. You have to understand that when your mother and grandmothers said that you could be anything you want to be, in the back of many black children minds that wasn't a true statement and to see something that seem something like this actually happen is fucking amazing and I think I am in shock, happy shock.

I have voted, took all of two minutes and got my sticker.

Now can we stop. I have been listening for nearly two years through new reports, comedy sketches, talk show hosts, television in general, polls, census, newspapers, cable news networks, other people, my family to know what I wanted to do already a long time ago. I don't want to hear anymore until tonight when they announce who is president of the United States.

I don't think this is bitchy behavior, I just want a little respite. And if you ask they are millions of others who think the same way.

Until then I am watching movies and not looking at any network nor cable news until then and at 10 watch The Daily Show and Colbert Report Indecision Special then well then....

Say, "Holy Shit!"

then go to bed. Maybe.

You Are An Atheist

God? No thanks. You're not buying into any religion.
They're all bunk to you. You rather focus on what you know is true.
You may be a passive non-believer or a rabid atheist activist.
But one thing is for sure... no one's going to make you go to church!

[protected post]Hey!
I have been away, and I'll probably be away from you guys again. Sorry about that, if you care, but I did something stupid and told my teacher that I was bored with the work he was giving in class and told him what he was teaching, I won't use.... so he gave me a side project to do in place of my final and if I do it, get shown in school's gallery.

I honestly don't know how to shut the hell up.

Anyway, I have done something which I will talk about later, it isn't bad but I haven't told anybody in the family. Oooooooh.

No fics from me (I write slow if you didn't figure that out about me.) until I'm guessing the end of the year and it isn't DC or Due South, still obsessing on Highlander and honestly I need Joe to be more so I am trying to follow Miss "I can't stop doing all things Due South" Aingeal by writing some short pieces to get a handle on him and help contribute to increasing his slashability. :Lol And I might have another reader/vote for my contribution of MASH Hawkeye/Charles bringing it to the total of 2.

Better than I hoped for. :)

If you know I update the DC Superman/Batman Journal, probably won't update until the end or beginning of next month. I am also trying to go in the library to catch up with my LIFE transcriptions if you are interested.

Now before I bounce I have uploaded some things and I'll add more when I have time and if you like them let me know.

presents!!! )

I recently reported to LJ Abuse about suspcious rash of friending and unfriending me. I thought it was odd when I checked in their profile all of it was Russian, which I have no problem with, I have friended journal that I can't read but Iunderstood the connection but it made no sense of why these journals were friending me in the first place so I waited and sure enough they would friend me then unfriend me to the point I didn't want to friend anybody.

So I google and thru other journals pointed me to nympholept's advice on the russian bots that might be the problem.

So with that done, I suspect in a couple of weeks for them to check it out and hopefully didn't mark somebody wrong as a bot, then things should go back to normal.

One last thing: I don't want to insult you, but I am being sort of picky now on friending. Now that I figured out about the bots doesn't mean I'm going to friend the rest automatically now.

It can't be for the finished stories when I bother to write them or the sporatic mumblings I post since I really don't lock them because I want everybody to see it, hence no need to friend me. :) It's just that I'm quite happy with the friends I have now and sometimes I do want and actually lock stuff.

If you still want to friend me or have friend me after that crappy sentence structure which I've just typed then leave me a note so I can see if you're real.

Okay, I'm misquotting but it brings up something that I read in via metafandom [info]cupidsbow's journal: Australia in Fiction. She, I assume, she has brought up when people write about Australia whether the characters are set there or just visiting seem to get it wrong.

A lot of people and I agree that it is hard that if you don't know the place or will ever go there then yeah you're going to get stuff wrong. One of the comments said the English people (I guess because of the Harry Potter fandom) is tolerant to Non-English (I assume she meant Americans, the commenter being American) but I think we are tolerant too, because even though the world gets to see a lot of our culture through the media my peeve, while small isn't so much location for me per se but the words and the spellings that Americans would never use. (Off track but revelant, I guess: I spent a couple of minutes discussing why did Daniel Jackson of Stargate said he when/or was in to "Grade 6". Grade 6? What kid here says Grade 6 because I know around me, we say, "6th Grade". It was a small thing but it pinged so hard in my head.) I have read stuff (mostly fanzines) that plainly wasn't written/published by an American and I had to decided either to stop reading or just agree that the words are there, cannot be changed and move on.

Well I paid for it, what do you think?

It is strange but that's probably why I never attempted to write a fandom in foreign country with foreign persons. I always wanted to try a Blake's 7, had the idea and everything but I just don't see myself doing it at all. If I want to do Canada, I know too many people through various flists who live there and I wouldn't want to mess it up; so in the end I'll probably won't try because I know what I'll have to do just to get it decent and right now Chicago is all the foreign I could deal with right now. Shame, because I love traveling fics.

Question: What do you think about writing in foreign countries?

My Craig Ferguson post will be arriving soon, I promise. :)

Usually I come up with something pithy that happens to me during the day but by the time I want to post, I shrug and leave it alone. Possibly might still do that but let's see what I can remember.

A couple days ago, I was trying to figure out where I saw Joanna Lumley from, and yes I know her from Absolutely Fabulous but I know I have seen her as a kid so I went to the part of what I called the triumvirate: Google, Wikipedia and Youtube. I went to the last one figuring I can track it down by going through her name and work my way into the past. I finally reach to a show I heard of, but I don't remember watching, but it was great and I can imagine children of the early 80's getting frighten the begueezes out of this series. In the comments of the show they mention X-Files and the Mulder and Scully relationship but I know the X-Files was in part inspired by Kolcheck: The Nightstalker but watching the series, it has the same dark atmospheric feeling as the X-Files.

Oh, I didn't mention the show: It starts off like this:

(70's graphics, the starscreen background, you know the ones we grew up with as the screensaver in every early computer monitor to keep your screen from dying on you. And then the booming voice.)

ALL IRREGULARITIES WILL BE HANDLED BY THE FORCES CONTROLLING EACH DIMENSION

TRANSURANIC HEAVY ELEMENTS MAY NOT BE USED WHERE THERE IS LIFE

MEDIUM ATOMIC WEIGHTS ARE AVAILABLE GOLD, LEAD, COPPER, JET, DIAMOND, RADIUM, SAPPHIRE, SILVER AND STEEL

SAPPHIRE AND STEEL HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED

If you don't know by now, I love the new police drama, LIFE on NBC and because said network didn't promote it enough, they gave all of it to "Bionic Woman" and we all knew how crappy that show was, you know when you root for the villain instead of the hero it's bad. Journey Man, on the other hand was another show that had a good idea but lost because NBC didn't promote it as well because of Bionic Woman. Hmm, somebody at the Sci-Fi channel should of picked it up...

But honestly it was luck and a little ingenuity must of been on their side because it came back for a second season. Yeah! I am not the only one who loves this show but I'll let the reporter from the LA Times say it better.

Well, I use the internet like a man. Apparently.

Your Surfing Habits are 60% Male, 40% Female

If we had to guess, we would guess that you are a man.

You use the internet to make your life more efficient - and to make you smarter.

For you, the internet is like a vast encyclopedia.

You search and surf extensively. You look up everything online.
